Government readily supports Hajj to be more efficient
The Hajj representatives of Thailand paid a call on Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva to report the mission result of taking care of pilgrims in Saudi Arabia.
On 1 February, 8.00 hrs, Purple Room, Thai Khu Fah, Government House, Dr. Isma'illuthfi Capakiya, leader of Hajj representatives of Thailand (Amirul Hajj) and the group of 25 persons paid a call on Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva to report the mission result, including urging the government to adjust regulations and laws to better facilitate Thai Muslims going to perform the Hajj in Mecca, Saudi Arabia.
Dr.Isma'illuthfi Capakiya, leader of Hajj representatives of Thailand (Amirul Hajj) thanked the Prime Minister for supporting the Hajj and always facilitating Thai Muslim pilgrims. The prime Minister’s awareness of the cases concerning important persons of Saudi Arabia and working attentively of the Thai officials and the Thai government impressed officials of Saudi Arabia so lot. It made the cases progress and both countries were satisfied, as well as making Thai Muslims being taken a good care and well looked after by officials of Saudi Arabia during performing the Hajj. As for going to perform the Hajj in 2009, there were 13,369 Thai Muslims going on the Hajj and 138 Hajj representatives of Thailand. Overall work of the Hajj representatives of Thailand ran smoothly since every concerned party cooperated well, no matter if they were the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Transportation, the Ministry of Interior, or the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Although performing the Hajj, previously, was smooth, there were still some certain obstacles needed to be corrected in order to improve the Hajj to be more developed and to facilitate the pilgrims in various dimensions. Therefore, the Hajj representatives of Thailand would like to ask the government to review and consider certain points, which were
1. Setting up the concerned committee to strategize the Hajj,
2. Accelerating appointing the leader of the Hajj group to make them have time in readiness preparation,
3. Driving establishment of the Office of Hajj Administration as the Cabinet approved (18 August 2009),
4. Adjusting and determining management of flights, accommodations, and grouping the pilgrims to be better standard,
5. Improving the Regulations of Hajj Fund to benefit the Thai Muslims,
6. Setting up the committee to drive Hajj development of Thailand (Mecca Resolution B.E.2552) that Thailand would host Hajj Relations event in Mecca, Saudi Arabia to make it more tangible,
7. Building the new office of the Hajj Representatives of Thailand in Mecca to replace the old one that was going to be demolished.
On this occasion the Prime Minister thanked the group of Hajj representatives for mission success which made Thai Muslims who went on performing the Hajj receive better facilitation. As for the proposals asking the government to support and to drive certain matters, the Prime Minister stated that he would assign concerned organizations to consider and expediting operation to make the Hajj run smoothly and efficiently in every aspect.
